Hanging By A Thread

Spinning
Dangling
Grasping
Hanging by a thread

Struggling
Fighting
Kicking
Hanging by a thread

Clutching
Swirling
Writhing
Hanging by a thread

Swaying
Twisting
Floundering
Hanging by a thread

Clasping
Flapping
Whirling
Hanging by a thread

Grabbing
Grappling
Straining
Hanging by a thread

Swinging
Slipping
Sliding
Hanging by a thread

A thread of kindness
A thread of concern
A thread of encouragement
Would you throw me another thread

A thread of laughter
A thread of caring
A thread of comfort
Would you throw me another thread

A thread of forgiveness
A thread of understanding
A thread of love
Would you throw me another thread

When I see someone who is struggling I don't always know what I can do to help.  The amazing thing is that it is usually very simple.  A simple act of kindness is just what they need to make it through the day.

When I am wrestling with the cares of daily life a simple word of encouragement helps calm my spirit.

It is often the little things, the threads of humanity that make a difference in this world.

So before you step into the world today, tuck some thread in your pocket.

  1. A few months ago, I was having a REALLY bad day. I went into the grocery store to get a few items and when I was being checked out, I said nothing other than exchanging niceties with the clerk. The woman bagging my groceries handed me my bag and put her arm around me, patting my back and said "It's all going to be okay." I got very teary on the way out. It was just what I needed to hear at just the right moment. I went back the next day to thank her. When I described her to the clerks, they had no idea who it was. She may have been a new employee and no one remembered her, but I like to think she was an angel sent to reassure me. It made that day go uphill from the point I had been at.
