Clean Out Your Ears

Light the flame
Let it burn
Clean out your ears
See what you learn

Take the time
To really listen
Is it real
Or is it fiction

Can you hear
The whispering wind
Can you hear
The rain begin

Can you hear
What I mean
Are simple words
What you glean

If you listen
Really close
Will you hear
All my woes

If you hear
All I say
You will know
My heart's bouquet

So light the fire
Let it burn
Hear my heart
See what you learn

Today I used an old remedy for cleaning out my ears.  You put an ear candle in your ear, light it and lay still for ten minutes or so.  Of course to stay balanced you then repeat the process on the other side.  It is a very interesting experience.  While you are laying there, your ear starts to get a little warm.  Then you start to hear a sizzling sound.  The longer you lay there the louder the sizzling gets.  When the candle goes out the silence is astounding.  And then every sound becomes more intense.  I could actually hear the rustling of the leaves and the chirping birds from inside the house.  I experienced a new appreciation for a lazy Sunday morning and all of its sounds.

I wonder what the world would be like if there was a heart candle.  Just imagine, you put the candle in your heart, lay still for a bit.  You start to feel the warmth.  Then your heart begins to sizzle.  The longer you lay there the more it sizzles.  I wonder what my heart would hear if I could clean it out.  I wonder if I would hear the soft whispers of concern.  Would I hear the songs of those who love me more clearly?  Would I have a new appreciation for life and love?

Something to think about...
